Easily Monkey Island 2!

One of the things I don't like about the Monkey Island 2 cover is that it doesn't fit the mood of the game at all. The game is relentlessly light hearted and stoopid, but this cover makes it seem like Requiem for a Dream. The GF cover is perfectly fitting for the mood of the game and is clear and characterful to boot.

I see your point, but I was 10 years old when this was released. To me, LeChuck WAS this scary. And I felt a dark atmosphere in large parts of this game, and the graphics were always beautiful and serious, even though the characters say some really wacky stuff.

Some of the environments were also quite frightening and grotesque, especially the inside of LeChuck’s castle. And remember the hanging corpses and the head of the navigator in MI1 - quite shocking for an innocent 10 year old in 1991. Big Grin At the time of release I hadn’t really seen anything like that in other adventure games.

The addition of the voice acting and the shift in style with CMI is when the series became light hearted IMO. And this is carried through in the 2010 special editions of MI1 and 2 - the voice acting in itself is great, but they do make the games sillier than what they originally felt like, at least to me.

I think the Grim Fandango art really suits the game overall, even though it could be considered simple in some terms, it was incredibly intriguing when seen on the shelf back in the day. The art on the back of the box was great too.

It's Grim Fandango for me.

Loom's my choice too

Voting Day of the Tentacle.

But please, ask me about Loom.

DOTT. Loom is nice, but it looks like it was done by someone who just found the “glow” effect in Photoshop. And it doesn’t have any tentacles.

Voted against both games in the prelims. Talk about the lesser of two evils. Loom is it.

10/10 for the game but only 4/10 for the box art - Tentacle

Gonna be DotT for me! Simplistic style, but very good design!
