The Big Hollow: 1982 demo release - Mosey - 01-09-2026
Krams Design, the creator of Anna's Quest, has released the demo for their next game today over on Steam.
It's called The Big Hollow and is a murder mystery - something of a departure from the vibes of their previous game.
I've always loved moody dramatic adventures ever since the Gabriel Knight games captured my imagination when I was a kid, so am pretty excited about this one. (Full disclosure: I also know the dev. One of the nicest guys you'll meet and bonding over our shared love of the genre was a strong foundation for our early friendship.)
I haven't seen the game talked about much here on Adventure Game Hotspot yet, so thought I'd give you all the heads up.

Wow that's quite different from Anna's quest, more serious toned. Also seems to be in the first person slideshow movement style with 2d painted graphics that I love. When does this release?

I have played the demo. I have not played the game because, at the time I played the demo, the game hadn't been released. I am interested in what people thought of the demo, as well as what they think of the game. Why have I not baught the game? Basically because the demo felt more like a casual game than an adventure. Instead of seaching for hidden objects, I was searching for clues. Dialogues didn't uncover information. They were a vehicle for slowly, with help from the boss, eliminating the wrong answers until until only the correct one fit. Remined me of the Women's Murder Club casual series developed by James Patterson and Jane Jensen.
That said. the current price on Steam is $6.99. Very similar to casual pricing on BFG. At that price I can play it as a casual and not feel I was cheated.

I've finished "The Big Hollow: 1982". A really well thought short investigating experience. Highly reccomended if you like investigative games. The details really come together in the end, you can see a lot of effort and care was put on the story. Quite different from the designer previous game which i also played and loved, but I dont mind. The arwork is original and fresh. A sequel is hinted in the end but the game is a complete experience. Took me about 3 hours I think without hints

Investigative games are the new walking sims. As in, they are all the rage. It’s getting harder for the games to differentiate themselves from the others but without playing this yet, it’s seems this does that.
