What adventure games - turned movies do you like? - Joshua AGH - 07-20-2026 I think we can / need to add action adventures into this discussion. I started watching the first Alone in the Dark, last night and I have been enjoying Christian Slater running around in jeans, a tank top and a duster. It's cheesy fun.I watched the Professor Layton cartoon movie and I ended it by enjoying the games a little more now that I feel like I know Layton better. Silent Hill was....hard to watch. Uncharted was a lot of fun to watch but I couldn't help but critique the handling of the characters. I wanna hear from you!!
RE: What adventure games - turned movies do you like? - Jen - 07-20-2026 I’ve only seen two video-game movies, a Final Fantasy one many years ago that had spectacular visuals and Tomb Raider. I watched the Halo and Fallout series as well. I am not much of a movie person anymore, and I never did care for horror movies (I am easily grossed out and loathe jump scares). But I liked the series a lot, particularly Fallout. RE: What adventure games - turned movies do you like? - Lucien21 - 07-20-2026 The Monkey Island movie with Johnny Depp was a lot of fun RE: What adventure games - turned movies do you like? - Jackal - 07-20-2026 I've seen pretty much all of them, and most of them range from absolute dreck (House of the Dead, Far Cry, Max Payne) to mediocre at best (Prince of Persia, Resident Evils, Tomb Raiders). Haven't seen the most recent one but I kind of liked the Mortal Kombat reboot, and to give this at least a bit of an adventure slant, I thought Until Dawn was pretty good, both of them as cheesy B-movies. What continually amazes me, though, as one adaptation after another keeps flopping both critically and commercially, is how little they stick to their game stories. Not that a lot of games have great stories, but if you're going to break from what the fans really want, at least don't replace them with something worse!

What did you think of Hitman? RE: What adventure games - turned movies do you like? - Jackal - 07-20-2026 There are two Hitman movies. The first was middling but okay with entirely the wrong Agent 47; the second movie was junk with a different lead who wasn't much better. (There are also three Silent Hill movies, also in descending order of quality -- which is saying something when you saw what they started with. )
RE: What adventure games - turned movies do you like? - Jen - 07-21-2026 Oh yeah, The Witcher. How could I forget The Witcher? RE: What adventure games - turned movies do you like? - Disembodied - 07-21-2026 I was trying to think of ones I've seen and I don't think I've seen any. I might have to correct that so thanks for the suggestions. I should try Borderlands since I liked the Telltale game. And I heard there's a To The Moon movie coming out soon so I'll definitely try and see that. RE: What adventure games - turned movies do you like? - BobVP - 07-21-2026 I hear that Indiana Jones movie is alright and faithful to Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade: The Graphic Adventure. I haven't seen most of these movies. I enjoyed Uncharted, it was schlocky but it had decent acting, good locations and a nice pace. I felt the same about Prince of Persia. I have Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva on DVD, might watch it later! RE: What adventure games - turned movies do you like? - GlitchGames - 07-21-2026 For some reason I've yet to check out the Ace Attorney movie however I believe that was meant to be pretty good and fun. |
