Hello all I'm playing "My Father Lied". I'm currently stuck in a green room, which contains a desk, two filing cabinets, and four idols, one of them is tipped on its side. There is what seems to be a light-matching puzzle on one of the walls. I've checked every hotspot, but could not find any clue to the puzzle. The door is locked from the outside, which, according to a note on the table, is a logical possibility. I Have this nagging feeling that I've missed some essential info, or overlooked an important inventory item which could have helped me out.

Any suggestions?

Hey gang,

Long time lurker, first time poster. We're the devs of Mithra, an adventure game about the world's first cult releasing later this year!

We've been lucky enough to be featured previously on AGH and were one of selected games to exhibit at AdventureX in the UK last November. We've been hard at work showing the game off at various cons & events and are now getting our heads down for the home stretch.

Next month, we're launching our Kickstarter to give people a chance to get involved in the game's production. It also helps us raise some extra funds for the "nice-to-haves", like full voice acting & new weird content!

We've got an INCREDIBLY COOL BUNCH of physical rewards on offer for our backers, exclusive to Kickstarter. Like, loads of stuff. I'm very excited. Details & visuals for these will be revealed in the next week - so follow the Kickstarter page to get involved! We'll also be running lots of fun community events in the lead up & during the campaign.

Check it out here:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/sev...der/mithra

Anyway, I hope you're having a good day. If you have any questions about the game/project, feel free to fire them in this thread. Alternatively, if you just want to chat about what you've had for lunch today/what you're currently playing, I'm down to talk about that too.

Thanks all,
In this case, we're talking about games that you actually enjoyed or even admired, while the general consensus was: this is trash.

Your positive outlook isn't something you know to be wrong in some way. This isn't about ironic enjoyment, or "I know it's bad but I get some kick out of it anyway". it's a genuine appreciation of a game that elicited the opposite response in (nearly) everyone else. This is a thread for challenging received wisdom and seeing value where it's underappreciated or even overlooked.

Maybe you see the good in a design decision that got universally panned by reviewers and consumers alike. A plot or an ending you gave a standing ovation, while others thought it was undercooked or overwrought. A game dismissed with some stock sentence like "show, don't tell!", "this leaves many plot points unresolved", something about characters being "unlikable" or the ultimate evil: pretentiousness.

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for feedback on artwork for part 2 and 3 of my game, Estória.

In the first game I had to learn everything from scratch (programming in Unity, 3D modeling in Blender, rigging of 3D models) and pull out every trick I’d ever learned in animation, illustration, painting, design, etc, so using AI to help with the backgrounds was the only way I could juggle all those tasks at one time. I like how the backgrounds look, but thanks to this awesome community, I’ve come to realize why it’s wrong to rely on it.

I’m planning on replacing part 1 with hand drawn art, but right now part 2 and 3 are forcing their way into my brain and I decided to get started on them while the story and puzzle idea juices are percolating.

Anyway, this is an early test to see if I can hit on a viable, cohesive style. I’m not convinced this is the right one just yet, so I’d like to get feedback from everyone here.

The scenes I’m posting here take place in the tower bedroom of the main character, and in a rundown part of the capital city of Estória, called The Bottoms.

Part 2 and 3 deal with some dark issues that I feel are more relevant than ever to speak out against, for example xenophobia and war, so hopefully I’ll be able to get these projects done.

Anyway, please let me know what you think works or doesn’t work. I’m really open to criticism, so let er rip! I need help! Thanks again, to everyone who has helped me along the way.

We teased the nominees a couple weeks back, and today we've unveiled the winners of the inaugural Hotshot Awards!
I honestly can't recall a more competitive field, even dating back to my many years at the Aggies, so congrats to any and all devs who made the final list, whether a winner, runner-up, or deserving honorable mention, because 2025 was an outstanding year for adventure games.
Did we get our "Hotshots" right, get 'em wrong, or some combination of the two? Would love to hear other people's impressions before we turn our sights to 2026 and beyond for good!

Hi!

I want to share a small project I’ve been working on over the past year. It’s called Upstairs, a short classic point-and-click adventure that will be released soon.

It was developed in Spain by just one person (me) during evenings and spare hours outside of my regular job. I used Unity together with Adventure Creator.

I studied Fine Arts a long time ago and currently work as a technical artist at a mobile game studio, so I had the experience and knowledge to approach this project properly. On top of that, I decided to keep everything as minimal as possible, from the art to the music, so I wouldn’t lose my mind during development and end up abandoning the project.

As a small confession, whenever I ran into design doubts during development, I often found myself going back to Octavi Navarro’s games to see how he handled similar problems. So in many ways, this project is quite indebted to his work. Not intentionally imitative, but definitely influenced by studying how he solves design challenges.

The game itself is short (around 40–90 minutes on a first run), with a lot of dark humor and some satanic vibes.

I just wanted to put it out there for anyone who might be interested in this kind of small, handmade adventure. You can find it in Steam:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/4352920/Upstairs/
Thank you!

Inspired by @Karlok's comment in the Moon Logic thread about Secret Files: Tunguska, those games that are kind of terrible and stupid but for whatever reason, you can't stop playing them.

I'll go ahead and say Black Mirror 2 and 3. I didn't particularly like either and they felt kind of terribly designed with a confusing story, but for whatever reason I kind of enjoyed them for being terrible.

Hi everyone !

I’m Mickaël, developer/artist at Studio Arkos (an indie studio made up of two devs).

We’re excited to present our very first game: "A Lost Man", which we’ve been working on for several months.
It’s a Point & Click adventure set on the fringes of war, entirely hand-drawn.
A demo is currently in preparation.

If you feel like it, adding the game to your wishlist would really give us a boost. The Steam algorithm loves it!
Thanks a lot, everyone!

Check this out The Dig lovers:

https://www.instagram.com/reel/DVRoVOXDC...Rta2lxOQ==

The Dig had the feel and atmosphere like no other game had back then or since! The Dig was believable, it was fantastical, it was hard core science fiction. It was CINEMA!

But it was also a good game, perhaps stumbling a little bit here and there. It was short. But so are movies! And that unique movie-like point and click game genre was and is still to this day unique.

This was peak times of Lucasarts games and sadly, we will never have that again in human history. We cannot go back to the time when we were technically limited, but still have no bounds in creativity. It was Lucasarts! A company responsible for the most popular and profitable movies ever!

This 2:26 long video took two weeks to make. I know, I know, it’s AI. But the amount of steps has to be taken when you put a video this long together is massive.

First you need to decide which scenes are memorable and beautiful.

Then you will have to recreate the images you have screenshot to realistic versions, and then you start iterating the animation part. And prompting and re-prompting, to get the feel and ambience of the game. It is fun and rewarding, but it can take hours even days to get one particular shot perfect.

Finally you are in the timeline and the editing starts. That is fun, but still takes a lot of brain work, cutting, adding effects, matching the soundtrack with the clips. Eventually you have a finished video, which has taken more of my manual labor and creative decision than the ”fast” AI part.

I appreciate if you give your oppinion, good or bad, Against AI or for it.

I love how it finally looks. I can image a remaster back then would have looked like or a movie!

Cheers,
