RE: The Sierra Box Art Grand Tournament – Vote for the Greatest Cover! - Beau - 11-05-2025 Sometimes I like to wait to vote to read what everyone else says. I loved the HQ one, but now that I see those short arms on the monster it really bothers me. And until now I never noticed the wolf in KQ5; that's really cool. So, KQ5 RE: The Sierra Box Art Grand Tournament – Vote for the Greatest Cover! - Rubacava - 11-06-2025 KQV Wins 11-1! Next match: ![]() Vote! RE: The Sierra Box Art Grand Tournament – Vote for the Greatest Cover! - EirikMyhr - 11-06-2025 Oh jeez. I really don’t care for any of these two. I despise bobble-head art with a passion, and while I actually like some of the late 80s style typography of LSL2, and enjoy the colours too, who thought of putting blue text on blue background, and yellow text on partly white background? Anyway, it’s LSL2 for me. It just sticks out a bit more, while QFG4 is a bit anonymous. RE: The Sierra Box Art Grand Tournament – Vote for the Greatest Cover! - Legerdemancy - 11-06-2025 I'm voting for Leisure Suit Larry 2. The Jumbo-sized sunglasses look cool. The goofy seagull is funny. Sparkling bits of light give a dazzling appearance to the image. Warm sunset tones alongside palm tree silhouettes are balanced against the chill, relaxing waves of teal and blue. Most things look like cardboard standee cutouts, especially the surfboard, in a humorous way. Larry is giving me a thumbs up, and likewise I will be giving him one in return. Quest for Glory IV has a very narrow viewport, but at least they did something original with it by having the characters jump outside of the rectangle. The main hero is chasing the imp 'Dragon's Lair style' as the tentacled monster looms over him. I'm guessing the bottom row of teeth of the monster were meant to look like graves to fool him. I appreciate the two different lighting sources used for the tentacles. However, a slab of solid purple colour consumes this box's real estate more than literally anything else that could have been used to entice the customer. RE: The Sierra Box Art Grand Tournament – Vote for the Greatest Cover! - Beau - 11-06-2025 They're both meh. QFG4 looks like something LJN would have done on an NES game. I vote for the seagull, who knows what's up. RE: The Sierra Box Art Grand Tournament – Vote for the Greatest Cover! - Jen - 11-06-2025 QFG. All those teeth! The only thing missing is ropy saliva. I just hate that LSL cover. I kinda just hate LSL. There, I said it. RE: The Sierra Box Art Grand Tournament – Vote for the Greatest Cover! - chrissie - 11-06-2025 I don't like either of the covers but I just about prefer the arrangement & colours of the Larry Suit 2 one. RE: The Sierra Box Art Grand Tournament – Vote for the Greatest Cover! - BobVP - 11-06-2025 Oof. I'm going with Quest For Glory SHADOWSofDARKNESS for a fun-filled adventure where YOU make the rules. I respect your vote, but I was wondering if that slogan actually makes any sense. ![]() Could you please explain what Sierra's marketing team were aiming for with that tagline? It just felt a tiny bit too generic and ambiguous for me personally, like they could use it for any game. RE: The Sierra Box Art Grand Tournament – Vote for the Greatest Cover! - BobVP - 11-06-2025 It doesn't make sense exactly, but sure is promising. I think it's about the player-dependent variables going on in the game, different from the usual adventure. Sometimes gimmicky marketing stuff can be kind of cute, I don't know! |
