Added Azazel's Christmas Fable to my honorable mentions. Playing it now, just about finished, so good. Even if you hate Christmas, if you like adventure games you'll enjoy this one. Ask me how I know.
I disagree. I'm not a Monkey Island worshipper --I think the first two games are very good and very flawed games. The only game in the series that would crack an all-timer list for me would be Curse, the third one. But I thought return was just a really good adventure game. The art was definitely not atrocious, c'mon. It might not have been as nice as the art in Curse, or MI2 if you dig the pixel aesthetic, but the animation and design were still a cut above most of the other games I played that year. Yeah, it could've been harder, but it didn't hold your hand either. I could go on, or you could just read my review on this site!

I thought Gilbert's disregard for the online backlash was a good move in this parasocial era and I agree the fans should "grow up and move on", though
a) if that was in the cards it would've happened already
b) he should've learned that lesson rather than projecting it onto his fans. Maybe a) applies here is as well.
Kathy Rain 2 probably won't making the list. I will finish it, considering Joe's remark about how it picks up near the end.
Maybe it's me - I might have a case of the Grinch. I didn't get any presents this year, not even from myself.

It is easy enough to pick out the top games but to put them in order more difficult when you like quite a few of them equally. So, quite a few of the games in my top 10 are interchangeable as far as placement goes.
