RE: Community Playthrough: IMAGinE (2021) - ClusterLizard - 10-24-2025 I finished it too. The following has SPOILERS in small text so skip over if you're still playing. There was one part that I found annoying. Since I hadn't read the banner to start the rhyme dialogues I wasted a bunch of time trying to figure out why I couldn't make sense of the chart and using that with the buttons before eventually deciding to wander around to try random things on other random things to figure out if I'd missed something... Overall I think for a two week game jam, it was pretty well done all things considered. (After reading the article on the ending screen, I wonder if Octavi Martino returned back to normal after getting out or if he was stuck with the extra limbs.) RE: Community Playthrough: IMAGinE (2021) - Joe - 10-24-2025 It looks like more and more people have finished the game, so let's move on to the next painting. For those who are still playing, don't worry it's not a race. [SPOILER WARNING] ![]() Another surreal painting. And It comes with another challenging puzzle. Was this the most difficult puzzle in the game? I think it was for me. I'd be interested to know your impressions about the small comments from the character (if you did even notice) - and did someone use the hints ingame? We knew it would be a hard one but it's also my fav puzzle of the game. I was getting frustrated after a while so I did click on the help button, but it turned out I already had several parts correctly worked out! It was nice to have them confirmed, anyway. My top 3 puzzles are: 1 Temple door 2 Black and white puzzle (surreal painting) 3 The maze (neoplastic painting) I would like the comments to appear every time you make a connection. I remember when I first played this game three years ago and replayed the whole game just to read those comments again
RE: Community Playthrough: IMAGinE (2021) - chrissie - 10-25-2025 I did use the hint for the maze puzzle, because I'd already solved the puzzle once, realised it was an alternative way of solving it & would have done it again but it was quicker! My favourite puzzle was the temple one as it wasn't self-sufficient & needed a little more work. For that reason the abstract puzzle was second followed very closely by the maze. I don't remember if the small comments from the character helped in the maze but they certainly did in other areas of the game. RE: Community Playthrough: IMAGinE (2021) - BobVP - 10-25-2025 The black and white image with the bugs is in my top 3 AG puzzles of all time. It matched the theme of the game. Clever design, visually, mechanically and the way it fit together. I don't think the written hints were necessary; one of the great things about the puzzle was how it revealed itself. The temple door puzzle was quite old-school in terms of design and difficulty. It took a lot of steps and hardly gave directions. There were a quite a few (intentional?) red herrings as well. I think the combination of hints, if I read them correctly, were somewhat understated. Dedicated to people with Terminator vision for AG writing and design. RE: Community Playthrough: IMAGinE (2021) - Legerdemancy - 10-25-2025 My summary will contain spoilers, so that counts as fair warning. I’ve finally finished the game and enjoyed the majority of it. I completed 80% of the game with my own wits and creativity. Another 10% completed with helpful hints provided by fellow AGH members, thanks guys. Brutal honesty, I finished the last 10% of the game with a walkthrough. I was never able to understand where the eye symbol played into the poem sequence. I love sliding puzzles in general, but not when it involves an abstract painting branching out in multiple directions. Late-game puzzles were predictably difficult at least for me. I have many things to say about IMAGinE, the bulk of which is positive. The little girl with the black balloon was my favourite character. I’m nicknaming her ‘Astrid Von Else’. That’s to avoid or cause confusion, whichever comes first. She had the best dialogue in the game with her playfully sardonic nature. That ‘I Spy Game’ was fun, boring Bob was too dim to notice the black object she had spotted was actually her eyes rolling into the back of her skull. In contrast, the Disciple felt like the blandest character. The dude’s rocking a mohawk and still comes off as bland city? Bad sign. He ends up feeling more like a tutorial character for the sake of learning the game mechanics. In hindsight, I’m now convinced that the chameleon was a green red herring. The proximity to the black & white painting made me think that I needed to capture it for the ‘I Spy Game’. Earlier in the thread I wrote a headcanon about Sophia having an affair with Angelo, whilst Bob is suffering from paint-induced hallucinations. The final newspaper article has ambiguous wording for ‘kidnapped’ which lends more credence to this theory. Quote: “Sophia Fremont, who herself was temporarily in the hands of the painter”. In the hands of a lover, perhaps? They saved one of the best lines for the final confrontation. “Hey, what happened to my carefully collected box of useless junk?” Most adventure game protagonists would say that usually after the credits roll. Spoiler alert: Your items are in hammerspace, Bob. Brush up on your tropes. Another humorous moment was late in the game. After finding the blank painting inside the temple, clicking on it directly with the cursor results in: “The Brush, I have to use the brush!” “By now I should have figured it out.” Favourite visuals and sounds: Definitely the underwater scene which exudes tranquillity. Least favourite location: The place where the dinner guests didn’t leave us any fish. Thankfully, they did leave us some neat pop culture references to consume instead. Highlight of this playthrough: Getting to chat with the awesome developers. They provided such concise answers to my questions. Getting helpful hints from the AGH community was a close runner-up. Thank you to everyone for reading my review. I’m looking forward to the next game that we journey through together! RE: Community Playthrough: IMAGinE (2021) - Argonauts_EK - 10-26-2025 Thanks a lot for all your reviews. This is always of much higher value for us developers than any 5-star ratings. Maybe we take this playthrough as a reason to enhance the gameplay especially in the later stages of the game. We planned on doing so after the game jam ended - but obviously never did. |
