From the latest Cressup video interviewing Charles Cecil last week, forgive me if this has already been posted. But it doesn't look good for this to be coming out anytime soon... Relevant section begins around 16:00.

Welcome to the forums, Thriftweed. Thanks for the update regarding Broken Sword 6. Hopefully they will find another publisher soon, because I love the series in general. Just for future reference, you can right-click the video and select 'copy video URL at current time' to create a convenient time-stamped version:

Appreciate the heads-up! Kind of a trip to be back on a forum after all these years... refreshing change from most social media.

Forgive my ignorance, please. How important is a publisher in 2025? Aren't hundreds of indie games self-released every year on Steam, GOG, and other platforms?
Is it a money thing, where the developers of BS6 need the publisher to advance them money for development?

That sucks to hear Sad If I ever win the lottery, I’ll establish my own totally awesome publisher, but until then, I hope for the best. Not sure how viable crowdfunding is in 2025 (it gave us Broken Sword 5, which was delightful, despite being split into two parts).

Money is the big one, but also stuff like handling marketing, or getting better deal for localization/voice acting, or even console ports since Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft have stricter requirements than Windows/Apple/Android ecosystems. Which is stuff that money can buy, but also stuff that Publishers are often already setup with. No idea that’s true for BS6 specifically.
