If you do that, it's impossible to miss. I guess it sucks that you can't make your way back there, but really, save early, save often!
If I recall, the issue with the bridle is that you have to be standing in a *very* specific place to see it, and type 'look down'. There's no indication or clue given that Rosella can't see what's inside the boat, or that specific area of the boat, unless she is within the boat. And I might be wrong, but once you are there, you can't type 'look in boat' --you have to type 'look down' in order to see the bridle.
The moon logic isn't of the 'use chewing gum on walrus' variety, but the 'this game mechanic only appears here, and it is illogical to require the player to do this thing based on how the rest of the game works.'

Hm, I guess I don't find having to move to inside the boat is really an issue - in most of these games you need to get close to an object to see or pick it up. I'm pretty sure there's a similar thing with the golden ball under the bridge. You kind of need to get close enough and from memory it's also a bit command sensitive. I guess it's one of those quirks with the text parser that's never annoyed me (though obviously I like there to be as many variations of a prompt as possible).
