So, there's going to be a new Space Quest. (ish.) Maybe.
Here's our news announcement and the Steam page if this is the first you're hearing about it.
Nothing carried over from Sierra's Space Quest, because only the name has been (re)-trademarked by the dev who previously announced Mystery House 3D. So new characters, worlds, story, art, everything.
Thoughts?
And yes, the promo materials use AI. Let's assume no one's on board (no pun intended) with AI slop and not make this an anti-AI thread. I'm more interested in hearing people's impressions of a "new" Space Quest with no connection to the old one.

Well I like that Josh Mandel is going to give his voice to the pilot. Its early to judge the graphics by this stage. The video is a bit cheesy in the nostalgia factor but ok I guess. What I don't like though are the ultra realistic screens that are supposed(?) to show how the in-game will look like featured in Steam. I would prefer a more stylised comic book feel like the original. Also from the screens it doesn't look like it is going to be a point and click, but a direct control 3 person style, like dunno tomb raider? I realise this is just concept art created with AI, but i don't like the first impressions it gives, I don't think it is thought out well

It's funny how promotional artwork is supposed to show you the developer's vision for the game, how different from the rest it's going to be, but these screenshots do the opposite - they look very similar to many other space-themed games I saw recently. Seeing them makes you feel like a literature teacher who is reading the assignments he just collected from his students and is realizing that they all are written by the same person.
But you never know, maybe game developers are channeling all their creativity into witty dialogs and smart puzzles
