Interesting historical game that takes place after the mexican revolution, in a turbulent period of political instability.

Secret of Easter Island

A very old game, almost prehistoric (published in 1983, on Apple II) where you  play an anthropologist who must prevent a devastating volcano eruption.

Mexico, 1921: A Deep Slumber sounds great, thanks.

I’m going to suggest travelling to South America playing Amazon Trail 3rd Edition: Rainforest Adventures.

The majority of it is set in Brazil along the Amazon river. Point and click interface for everything except canoe navigation. You get to choose from a selection of 4 different FMV guides * to accompany you for the journey. Exploratory elements are also included such as taking photographs of animals.

You’ll get to be there first-hand for various historical events, because the game features time travel for each village you visit, Fordlandia being one of those places. The aesthetic of South America combined with pragmatic fact-based knowledge is a decent combination in my opinion.

* Choose Miguel as he is delightfully cheesy.
