I just launched Rise of the Golden Idol. I started with DLC 3. It's the first one chronologically, so I thought it would make sense to start here.
But yeah, deduction games can be quite taxing if you play too much at once.

Haha, yeah, I do love that kind of Obra Dinn-like deduction mechanic in general, but I think the intrigue and fun of the Golden Idol world is starting to feel a little less exciting with every DLC. Especially when you play a lot of them in a row, like you said. But then again, I did buy the final DLC, so I probably will power through them all one of these days...  Smile

I've just finished the DLC 3. It's been a while since I played a Golden Idol game. I forgot that filing the answers could be a little intimidating.

I just finished Elroy and the Aliens, which was much better than expected without really blowing me away. Next up is Agatha Christie's Death on the Nile, which I'm also kind of skeptical about. I really like the source material, but don't understand why they are so dead set on modernizing the setting (the groovy 70th's for this one) and appending mildly annoying subplots for newly invented characters.

At the very least they added multiple save slots for the last title. A single slot for games with multiple endings is a crime against humanity.

I've started a halloween friendly adventure game marathon with a double feature: I've finished Softie and The Adventures of Zomboy tonight. Next up: Vincent the Vampire.

I have a list of adventure games with ghost stories, monster stories, cosmic horror, and other spooky topics prepared. Some are a bit scary, others are funny. The last one's going get the honor of being this year's Halloween game. I haven't decided which one that's going to be yet, but the most likely candidate is an upcoming title.

Agatha Christie's Death on the Nile, which is not as good as Murder on the Orient Express.

If we consider visual novels to be adventure games (I do), I just finished 1000xResist and it was great. It's a sci-fi mystery that takes place over 1,000 years. The writing and atmosphere are excellent.

Is there any adventuring to do? Like problem-solving? Or just choices and reading?

Playing Lost Chronicles of Zerzura.

Puzzles are easy but the setting and graphics are enjoyable.

Currently playing Enchanted Scepters, which is sometimes labeled the first point-and-click adventure game. It's a bit dated as you would expect from a graphical adventure released in 1984 but I'm still having fun mapping stuff and exploring since I have a lot of fondness for Macintosh adventure games and seeing the history of the genre. It was made using an early version of the World Builder engine, which ended up being used for a lot of adventure games and is now supported in ScummVM
