Not really, but in my experience Grim Fandango was one of the easy AGs that I played in late 90s.
At that time I told about GF to my friends who were gamers but not into AGs and non of them found it to be particularly difficult.
In subsequent years I kept recommending GF to my acquaintances as an entry point to AG genre, and the only ones who found it to be difficult were those who hadn't played much games at all.
Note that all this was before internet became widespread and people gained quick access to games walkthroughs.

I liked it a lot too.
What a good use of the Day of the Dead myth: corruption in the Land of the Dead, tickets to the good afterlife are being stolen. Excellent idea!

Now I am curious what puzzles in GF you consider to be particularly confounding and nonsensical and why, especially bearing in mind that GF is set in an imaginary world where some level of zany logic is expected by default?
lol
We end up in a Grim Fandango discussion once again - is this the most divisive game in AG history?
I'd love to have found a box with one of these collections. Shoutout to The Abandoned Planet and I'm finally playing Syberia, after the upcoming community playthrough.
I'd include Day of The Tentacle - one of my favourite cartoon puzzle box adventures. King's Quest IV - for the exploration and a sense of AG history. Spider & Web - as an example of what can be achieved in interactive fiction. Return to Mysterious Island for an inventory system that allows for multiple solutions and encourages experimentation. Space Quest III because it looks so cool. The second Blackwell game. Bad Dream: Fever - one of the best "meta" games. Tangle Tower - one of my favourite investigative games. Oh and I'd also throw in the first two Monkey Island games, like Hexenwerk I definitely want to include the code-wheel!
I'd include a choose-your-own-adventure book as well.

I would make the physical box full of labelled smaller boxes.
The first box would say "Start here" and contain Full Throttle.
After beating the game, you would have the following options:
A) I want more story.
B) I want more puzzles.
Option A gives you The Drifter. After beating it, you would have another option:
1) I don't like puzzles, but I like the story - Walking Dead.
2) The puzzles were OK, but I want more vibes – Syberia.
Option B gives you Primordia. After beating it, you have another option:
1) I want MORE puzzles – Myst.
2) The puzzles were OK, but I want more wackiness – Toonstruck.
After beating all of those, you may notice 3 things:
1) There are tiny pieces of plastic in every box that look like trash, and you probably threw them away already. In fact, they are tiny pieces of a key that you need to glue together. They are heat sensitive, so you need to hurry up, otherwise they will melt in your hand.
2) There is a little lemon icon on the notes. If you rub lemon juice over them, a secret message will appear: ↻ ↺ ↺ ↺ ↻ ↻.
3) There is a tiny keyhole at the bottom of the box.
Using the key, turn it correctly in the keyhole (one mistake and the key will break, jamming the lock forever). You will unlock a hidden compartment containing a note that says:

Cleverly done, Joe! I'm still laughing!
Dear Santa,
Before I explain, how much do you know already?

I aim to please.
But seriously, after watching OneShortEye's The Dagger of Amon Ra video, I'm pretty sure that's the minimum level of perception, patience, luck and grim determination one need to have in order to play those games.
