I definitely don't want to derail this thread into another AI debate, but since I actually missed the AI disclosure earlier, it does take a bit of the lustre off, as I'm against the idea in principle. But I do think its application has all shades of murky grey rather than purely black and white. I daresay that pretty much ALL industries now benefit from AI in some form or another, so it'd be hypocritical to accept it in non-artistic areas and categorically object to it only in artistic ones. So, to me it really comes down to how it's used and how extensively. Plus the transparency of doing so, which is certainly the case with both Nothmere and Estória.

The whole "victim" angle has its limitations too. After all, in the end there's no one actually out the equivalent of an AI lamp. We don't object to games that are "inspired by" others, which is not altogether different, just less mechanical.

(And I say this knowing that even Adventure Game Hotspot itself is regularly scraped for content.)

I've got a lot of thoughts on the subject, but as you say, this ain't the place for them--just wanted to share my two cents while the topic was at hand. In the unlikely event anyone wants to hear more from me about it, I wrote a long thing about the specifics of my objections to generative AI in the dedicated "Generative AI use in Adventure Games" thread a couple months ago, so hypothetical interested parties can check my post history for that.

(Though of course where you *specifically* are concerned, Jack, I know where to find you if I feel the sudden urge to monologue Big Grin )

I do apologize, i probably should have kept my opinion to myself. I will keep my fat trap shut from now on, at least on this topic. While I am vehemently against generative AI, I would never presume to dictate anyone else’s choices. And I wish you every success with your game, Poc, really. I will add one more thing, though—for me, if a game is otherwise fun to play, I do not mind bad art  Tongue
