Still playing Melon Head by Wavey Games. I'm including the link, since it flew under the radar and it's not on Steam or GoG. Or AGH, for that matter!

I have more thoughts, but for now I just want to give it a recommendation. I adore this game!

I played the two Perfect Tides back-to-back and am blown away by how compelling the experience was. They really conjure a sense of time and place. And just the small scale, slice of life stakes was a breath of fresh air. (Though there's nothing wrong with saving the world from time-to-time, too. Big Grin)

Next up on the adventure front for me is Earth Must Die!

Played through Earth must die. It is a funny cool game that has stellar production values. Voice performances, art and animations were superb. It is borderline an interactive animation toning down gameplay and exploration. Puzzles are overall simplistic but well integrated to the story, although there are some nice bigger puzzle chains in the game like the yacht stage. Inventory is absent and in its place there is a manipulation mechanic for using characters on hotspots, potayto - potahto nothing really unique. Regarding the puzzles the overreliance in the "milkipedia" (an in game encyclopedia) kind of tired me (it becomes boring and kind of a chore). Controls felt weird, tried with my Joypad and also Keyboard + Mouse and nothing felt quite there, it was awkward. Joypad didn't have the directness of the mouse and mouse was kind of bugged throughout the game having to exactly aim and press the icons inside the hotspots, it's tricky and many times you have to repeat the process. Also interactive cartoon like games like this are naturally built for mouse control, there seems to be no reason for using the keyboard or at least give the option for total mouse control. It's just an extra control scheme for not reason, in contrast for example to "lair of the clockwork god" that such an option makes sense. I am certain though that most of these issues will be patched soon. Humor, dialogues and characters are spot on for me having black humor, with the main antihero (or maybe villain) Vvalak (yes 2 Vs) and the surreal cast of characters exchanging funny lines. Story and lore personally were a hit or miss trying too much at times to be an allegory with modern politics and people (all right I get it already) and came out to be smarty pants, pretentious and cringy sometimes. Overall I found it a nice game but nothing remarkable and if I had to put a mark according to my tastes I believe a 6,5-7 out of 10 would be fair. It kind of reminds me of Creature Crunch or Ballad of Remus

Glad to see people take notice! Smile

I've reached one of the three endings. I'm going for at least one more; out of curiousity, enjoyment and to give my thoughts some time to crystallize.

I went on a quest. What an adventure. Great soundtrack, wacky at times, but clever (great bass lines, rhythm), fun sound effects as well. I really enjoyed the puzzles. Each character has personality, especially Nettleboo - I liked her journey as much as my own.

I finished Syberia - The World Before. It does a good job of recapturing the atmosphere of the original two games and is significantly better than the third game. The storyline of Kate following the historical tracks of a person has some similarities to the original journey to find Hans, yet the character switching/flashbacks and a focus on interpersonal relationships between various people gave this games story a different feel from the others in the series. The city of Vaghen, where a large part of the game takes place in, looks absolutely fantastic too, so much so I almost wish there was more of it to explore and that the game was a little less linear. One area where the game could have been better was the puzzles/interactions, some of which just felt like busy work rather than any kind of challenge.
