Hi everyone, here's an updated attempt on the sewer scene. Everyone's feedback has been really helpful. I tried to make the back ink outlines a little less prominent and jarring. Hopefully they blend better now. I used some other digital brushes as well.

Fun fact: the stonework is based on a really crusty and moldy drainage canal near my house Big Grin

Anyway,I'm still not convinced this is the best look or the best I can do, personally, but I have to find a balance that I can use to produce images for a lot more scenes. Please keep the feedback and advice coming! Thanks a lot everyone!

Right as I posted this I realized I must have erased a chunk of the outlines on the building in the upper left. I use my wacom pen tool's erase button as a "tap to quick save" shortcut and must have tapped those lines and erased them when saving. That's one of the pitfalls of combining the save and erase buttons! ;-)

Great job! Your style definitely catches the eye, if I'd see this on a store page I'd be intruiged. Looking forward to see where this goes.

I really like the updated version, great job!! I would certainly want to play a game with that art style.

Whatever your style is stick to it. Assuming your style is appropriate to the game you're designing. Example: the designer of Nelly Cootalot and the Fowl Fleet was obviously influenced by Chuck Jones of Warner Bros/Loony Tunes fame. And that style fit perfectly with the design of the game. But, that style would not have worked at all if the game was Syberia. Other than fine tuning a few thing such as remembering your light source and the like, I think your style is just fine.

BobVP, EirikMyhr, and rtrooney,

Thank you all very much! I feel like it's getting closer to how to see it / feel it, and my own style that I've developed over the years. This project will push me out of my comfort zone, but that's a good thing for sure. It's not quite there yet, but getting closer anyway.

Thanks again! (and good advice about the lighting source!)

I bet in the new game the main character is going to enter this enormous drain hole, exciting. I like the new looks!

Thanks a lot! She'll have to open that drain in part 3. There are going to be some pulleys and levers she'll have to figure out in order to open it. I'm trying to make 2 and 3 as a set, so I can release them together. Hopefully they'll fit together kind of like Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi
