Wow, these pictures look like scenes from an adventure game!

If you could choose a non video game medium to get your next GK fix, what would it be?
Give me a Netflix series

That would be awesome! A graphic novel might be good too.

I like that each game had a different style, graphic novel for 1, film-ish for 2, 3D for 3... so to continue I'd like to see a Netflix series. Either live action or animated if it was done in a serious style

I must say, I will prefer to keep the universe only in video game world. Generally, I am not a big fan of any movies or series based on video games. Better - I am not big fan of any TV series, where you need to follow so many episodes to cover the story. I think like everybody, I am very limited with the time. And if I have free time, I prefer to play adventure game rather than "only watch" any TV series...

The aspects of games that make them interesting to the players, and occasionally onlookers, don't translate into the features of more passive media. The types of storytelling involved, while related, are quite different.

TV shows and movies are almost totally passive, although there may be secondary aspects as viewers use their imaginations to create alternate storylines. Video games actively require agency.

I think the characters and setting would work fine in a movie or show. Inventory puzzles are probably hard to depict. Does the main character just pull random stuff from his pockets? If the writers and directors primarily focus on the mystery/detective beats, I can see it working pretty well. The Da Vinci Code has an adventure game plot, a movie like Memento invites the audience to follow clues and solve a puzzle. With the right casting Gabriel could be a pretty interesting role.

If I'm not mistaken, the first two games were novelized. I suppose a choose-your-own-adventure novel would be a happy medium?

For the real GK heads, I can imagine a Total Recall scenario where you get the complete Schattenjäger experience - and potentially suffer irreversible brain damage.
