Your scene looks really nice and I'm already curious about how the characters are going to look like!

I know how much work this is. Are you going to animate your characters with sprite sheets or tween-based? (as you can do with tools like spine)

And which tools are you using with Unity? Just coding everything from scratch, or are you using a toolkit like Adventure Creator? (I can very much recommend that one by the way).

Thanks a lot, Hexenwerk!

I'm using Adventure Creator. I wouldn't have been able to make Part 1 without it, because I have reeeeally limited programming experience. It's pretty incredible.

For the animation, I use Blender to create 3D models based on my drawings, then plug in motion capture rigs for whatever animations I want to do. It took a lot of work initially to figure out settings, like where to put the virtual Blender camera, frame rate, how to make outlines around the characters during animations, what kind of mo-cap rigs to use (Adobe has a free library that I ended up using) etc etc but now that I've got all that down, Part 2 and 3 should go a lot smoother, freeing up more time to spend on these backgrounds.

The hard part about being a solo dev is that I have to keep everything (story, puzzles, character design, art, music, programming, translations, promoting on social media, and more) in my head all at once, and be able to change hats to work on whatever problem has popped up at the moment. It's crazy, but it's a lot of fun!

Oh nice, Blender would be my tool of choice for my next adventure game character iteration as well (because the 2D sprites were too much work for a solo dev!).

I think you don't have to keep everything in your head all at once with a bit of project management, like a kanban on miro or git or whatever. Using such tools as "external brain expansion" at least helps me when working on my games.

Looking forward to your next updates Smile

Thanks! I've never heard of Kanban. I just looked at it and it seems like it could be a big organizational help. The first game was like an endless round of whack-a-mole, trying to squash problems constantly.
