I was looking for a thead to write about this. Considered making a dedicated movie thread, or one about media that reminds you of adventure games, but I figure this one works.
The Fabulous Baron Munchausen (Baron Prášil in Czech). A surrealist romantic fantasy adventure directed by Karel Zeman. It features the titular Baron (without the Umlaut?), but also draws from several other novels, like the works of Jules Verne and the literary figure Cyrano de Bergerac.
The film combines live-action with various forms of animation. Several scenes and locations reminded me of games like Quest for Glory II and King's Quest IV. I wouldn't assume the developers at Sierra were inspired by this movie - One Thousand and One Nights and The Book of Jonah came first and have inspired many stories since. I can only say the games and this movie struck a similar chord in me.
Another element that reminded me of adventure games was the prevalence of moon logic. Overcoming obstacles with far-fetched solutions that rely on magical thinking is inherent to Baron Münchausen, but I feel I can make this post-hoc connection work: the main character, cosmonaut Tonik, meets the Baron on the moon. He ventures back to Earth, with the baron, learning his ways and eventually creating a version of the Baron's logic, somewhat rooted in science, with a dash of the Baron's (lunar) leaps of logic.
Definitely watch this movie if you get the chance. It's very artistic, funny and unique.
