I’m no big fan of the LSL7 art style. Conquests of the Longbow at least from the box art looks like a classic adventure game I would want to play. Even though they «hide» the real game title, I find it makes more sense to have «Robin Hood» in large letters than «Roger Wilco»…
My vote goes to Robin Ho…. Conquests of the Longbow™!

Robin Hood for me.

Too bad they have to compete!Just by way of explanation: the reason the name "Roger Wilco" started to be pushed up front, and the Space Quest name de-emphasized, was actually twofold.
SQ6 I find much, much prettier than SQ4. Even though I’m still critical of the whole «Roger Wilco» branding thing, it actually looks kind of cool here. The colours are nice, and the whole image sort of comes alive. They also «borrowed» the font from Star Trek: The Motion Picture…
QFG1 is more of an artistic statement, with the «flat» image, the stained glass and the symmetry. Even so, the colours are kind of ugly.
No dang it, I’ll have to go with SQ6.
For one, Sierra never had the rights to the Space Quest name -- they had to repeatedly license it from the Children's Museum of Indianapolis. (You can probably find that referenced in tiny print on Space Quest boxes.) So the hope was to eventually jettison the Space Quest name entirely so the licensing wouldn't be necessary and Sierra could own the property free and clear.
The other concern was that it was suspected that people be might be less likely to buy a current game if they hadn't played all the previous numbers in the series. By titling each game "Roger Wilco and the...", you avoided making the numbers a potential area of confusion. As with the "Space Quest" name, I think the long-term goal was to eliminate the numbers entirely.

Hi Josh! Great to see you here!
Thank you for this fascinating piece of background information, it really explains a lot!

The layout of the SQ4-6 boxes made me sort of suspect something like this, but I could never prove it - until now!
